우리는 현실에 발을 딛고서 동시에 비현실적인 소망을 간직하며 살고 있다. 그것이 가끔 현실과 이상의 괴리감으로 나타나 곤혹스럽게 하기도 하지만, 결정되지 아니한 미래는 우리에게 희망이라는 가능성을 선물한다.
나의 그림에는 크게 현실의 삶을 대표하는 ‘의자’와 소망을 담고 있는 ‘전구’가 등장한다. 사람이 여럿 있을 때보다 혼자 있을 때 감각이 더 예민해지는 것처럼 일상 속에서 무심히 지나쳤던 의자가 비로소 나에게 하나의 감정을 지닌 사물로 인식되기 시작하였다(중략).

We live with one foot in reality and the other in unrealistic hopes. The undetermined future presents us with the possibility of hope, even if it sometimes manifests itself as a gap between reality and the ideal.
In my paintings, there are two main elements: a chair, which represents our real life, and a light bulb, which represents our hopes. Just as our senses become more sensitive when we are alone than when we are in a group of people, a chair that we pass by indifferently in our daily lives has begun to be recognized as an object with emotions for me (middle).
